FAMILY LAW APPEALS

There are times when a party to a family law proceeding may question or disagree with a ruling in an order or judgment of the court. Actions can be taken at the circuit level to request the court reconsider or clarify a decision. It may also be appropriate to file an appeal with the district court. Time is of the essence when it comes to an appeal. For example, a party has 15 days from date of entry of a final order to request the court reconsider its ruling. A party also has 30 days from the date of entry of the order to file a notice of appeal. There are strict deadlines that need to be followed, making it important to address the issue in a timely manner.
