How do I hire or retain the attorneys at Rubinstein & Holz?

The process begins by scheduling a consultation appointment.  This is an appointment, which typically lasts about an hour, where you can interview an attorney to inquire about your rights under Florida family law and generally discuss what legal actions are available to assist you.  During the appointment, you will also receive information as to the firm’s financial requirements.  There is a cost for this appointment.

What is a Retainer Agreement?

The attorneys at Rubinstein & Holz request each client review and sign a retainer agreement which sets outlines the services which you will receive and the fees and costs which you will be charged.  The retainer agreement is typically provided at the initial consultation.  We appreciate our clients taking time to review the agreement and ask questions about any of the information or requirements contained in the agreement. 

How can I obtain more information about an attorney’s qualifications?

In addition to the information contained on this website, you may call our office to receive a written copy of an attorney’s qualifications by mail.

What do your attorneys charge?

Each attorney and legal staff member has an hourly fee for his or her services.  When you hire the firm, you will be charged an initial retainer, which is a lump sum held in our trust account.  When an attorney or staff member works on your case, you are charged by the hour for all legal work performed.  If your case involves significant legal work, you may be required to replenish the retainer.  It is our practice to keep records of the work performed on your behalf and client’s receive monthly billing statements which detail the services you receive.

Under the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar, family law attorneys cannot typically charge contingency fees. 

What other fees or expenses might I expect to pay?

You may also incur (a) court costs such as filing fees, issuance and service of summons and subpoenas, newspaper publication, witness fees, court reporter expenses, recording fees, etc., (b) mediation costs and expenses, (c) long distance telephone calls, (d) postage, (e) photo and fax copies, (f) travel expenses including meals and lodging, if required, and (h) fees and expenses of other experts which you deem necessary to assist in the preparation and settlement (or trial) of my case (such as medical experts, parenting evaluation experts, parenting coordinators, mediators, arbitrators, certified public accountants, real and personal property appraisers, pension evaluators, business evaluation and vocational experts, investigators, and special process servers).
